A couple-three days ago I was given the rare privelege (at least for me) of driving our Ford Fusion around Dillon. Elder Ives, the person I had to call for permission to drive, said "Make sure you drive defensively." I started thinking about the importance of defensive driving and I related it to defensive fighting. Countless times in the Book of Mormon and the Bible when one group takes up arms in defensie of their country and freedoms, with the Lord on their side they don't lose. Even more than that, there is a story where an army showed faith in the Lord and every member of their army lived. My personal favorite story in the Book of Mormon is about a man named Captain Moroni. He takes an army into battle and before they leave he makes a flag that explains exactly why they are going to war. They call it the Title of Liberty. Alma 46:12-13 talks about this. It says: "And it came to pass that he rent his coat; and he took a piece thereof, and wrote upon it—In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children—and he fastened it upon the end of a pole. And he fastened on his head-plate, and his breastplate, and his shields, and girded on his armor about his loins; and he took the pole, which had on the end thereof his rent coat, (and he called it the title of liberty) and he bowed himself to the earth, and he prayed mightily unto his God for the blessings of liberty to rest upon his brethren, so long as there should a band of Christians remain to possess the land—" Could you imagine what our battles would be like if we all fought for truth and right? Could you imagine bowing down and praying before avery fight? I believe that we as a country would be unstoppable. No one would be able to harm us. I believe that if we involve God in things more often we would not be facing the problems and challenges that we are facing today. What do you think?
